With the amount of websites out there, driving traffic to your site can be very tough. Your website may not make it in the first few pages of a search engine result, it may not have many “quality backlinks”, your content isn’t interesting enough for your audience – or they just can’t find you!
There could be many reasons as to why your website isn’t gaining as much traffic as you would like it to, so, how to help solve this? I’ll be covering 5 growth hacks that you can take advantage of to help gain more traffic to your website.
Growth Hack #1: Quality Content
One of the best ways to drive traffic to your website is by having a blog that is full of interesting, informative, engaging content.
Coming up with unique share-worthy content ideas isn’t everyone’s skill – even I struggle at times. But thankfully, with the use of BuzzSumo, you are able to search for specific keywords which will return with content on the web including those keywords.
The results from the search will also include some very useful information such as how many shares each article has. This is perfect for getting an idea on what content would be share-worthy. Here’s a quick example for the search term “growth hacking”.
As you can see in the above search results, the top article published on Quick Sprout has had a total of 1.3k shares. You could then get an idea of what content to do based around Growth Hacking Tactics. Likewise, with my previous growth hacking article “7 Powerful Growth Hacking Tools for Marketers“.
Growth Hack #2: Keep them coming back for more
So, now you’ve got your content idea that is share-worthy and should provide helpful information to your audience, you are of course wanting them to come back for more future content, right?
Well, in that case, the growth hacking tool “PushCrew” is perfect for that. Did you notice on my website the little box that popped up mentioning about turning on push notifications? That’s PushCrew. This tool is brilliant for bringing users back to your website.
When a user subscribes to receive your push notifications, they will be added to your push list, allowing you to send them a custom personalised notification with a link. This is very useful when you publish an article, just send out a push notification with your content link and they’ll receive a little pop-up with your message – that’s what I do every time I publish an article.
One of the best things about PushCrew is that it’s free for up to 500 subscribers!
Growth Hack #3: Trending Content
Sharing trending suitable content on your social profiles doesn’t only increase your engagement, followers and publicity, but you can also drive traffic to your website from sharing other people’s content.
You might be thinking how is that possible? Well, tools like Snip.ly allow you to accomplish this.
The tool allows you to add a custom Call-to-Action on every link you share. So, this means you could add a message mentioning a specific article, or page on your website.
Here’s an example of what it looks like.
Applying this on trending content could potentially drive you a lot of traffic if the users find your CTA very catchy. So give it a go and test what works best!
Growth Hack #4: Email Signups
This one is very well known. I still decided to include it in this article as it’s still one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website. Gaining email signups allows you to then send out daily, weekly, monthly emails that you can include your website’s content in.
There are many tools available to help you collect email signups by placing forms on your website, however, I highly recommend the SumoMe tool. This has various other apps that are very useful along with its email signup forms.
When you visited my website, you may have noticed a pop-up box asking if you wanted to sign-up to receive emails from me? That’s the SumoMe tool.
Growth Hack #5: SEO
Finally, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). This is vital for all websites and thankfully the Yoast SEO plugin helps you with optimising your content for the best results.
Every article I publish, I always fill out the SEO information. Adding specific keywords, adding a custom meta description etc. One of the best features about Yoast SEO is that it will give you an indication as to how well your article is optimised and giving you some tips on how to improve it more.
If you have a WordPress website, then I would highly recommend installing it. For every WordPress blog I’ve managed, I’ve always got the plugin installed. You don’t need to worry about any costs either, as it’s free for everyone.
That’s the end of this article, I hope you’ve found it useful and think about implementing those growth hacks to skyrocket your website traffic. If you have any other tips then feel free to comment them below – would love to hear your thoughts!
