Growth Hacking is vital for newborn startups, in order for them to survive the tough first periods, they need to take advantage of the many tools available. In this article, I will cover 7 brilliant growth hacking tools that Marketers in general can use and for those that also work at startups.
However, before we begin, for those that don’t know the term “Growth Hacking” let Sean Ellis sum it up in a short.
“a growth hacker is a person whose true north is growth.”
In no particular order, these are 7 great growth hacking tools you should definitely look into.
1 – Start A Fire
I’ve found this tool helpful for driving traffic back to my website via sharing trending, suitable, interesting and engaging content. The Start A Fire tool works by adding a custom badge to each link you share. At the bottom of the page, you will notice a small “Recommended content” box, this allows you to drive traffic back to a specific blog post, landing page etc.
Here’s what it looks like. You can view a live version by clicking here
Start A Fire is free for everyone, however, you can also upgrade to premium for more features. One of the best things about this tool is that you can connect it with your Buffer account so that when you schedule your posts, the links will automatically be updated and include your recommended content badge.
2 – Buzzsumo
This tool is by far one of my favourites. It’s perfect for finding trending content. You can either use the default topics and view what’s trending, or search specific topics. You can then narrow your search down even more by choosing how recent the content is, location based, type of content for example videos, articles etc.
Buzzsumo is my favourite for curating content with ease. You can find out more about Buzzsumo on their website.
3 – Narrow.io
One of the main tools that I’m playing around with atm is Sujan Patel’s (@) Narrow.io Twitter Marketing Automation tool. This is one tool I’ve found extremely useful for growing my Twitter followers and engagement.
Narrow.io works by finding specific people that are talking about subjects that are relevant to the audience you want to attract. It’s a simple tool that works extremely well. You enter specific hashtags, users, keywords, websites etc, and then it will go and engage with users that are following and tweeting about those subjects and/or users.
An amazing feature about this tool is that it even gives you a conversion rate, so therefore you can see how well each keyword is performing and decide whether you want to keep it or change it.
As you can see, I’ve gained almost 300 followers from the keywords I’ve set. This is all because of Narrow.io engaging with users by liking their tweets and/or following them. You can also turn on the cleanup option that will “Unfollow users that don’t follow you back after a few days, and unfavorite all tweets.”.
I must say, using this tool whilst also applying my tips mentioned in this post will boost your following even more.
4 – Toofr
If you’ve ever wanted to find out someone’s email address whether it’s for a sales email or PR email, you can do with this great tool.
“Fast, accurate, inexpensive. Get the right email addresses for your leads.”
Toofr is a great tool because it allows you to find out an email address just by using the first and last name, and the company name or website. The tool will then return with an email address that is likely to be the person you are looking for.
5 – SumoMe
You’ve probably seen many websites use this tool, SumoMe is brilliant. It has various apps that you can utilise for free that can help with your marketing goals. I’ve recently set-up SumoMe on this website so therefore I can start collecting emails and growing my website traffic.
SumoMe is a tool that I definitely recommend looking into. The best thing about it is that there is a free plan!
The tool is very simple to set-up and works right away. If you’ve got a WordPress website, then it’s very easy – just install the SumoMe plugin.
6 – Click to Tweet
I’ve used this tool plenty of times before and it’s great for helping others share your content with ease. You can write a message that you want others to share, this can also include a link. Once you’ve written the message just click the generate new link button and voila, you have your special link that when clicked will allow others to tweet your message.
A great feature about this tool is that you can track all activity and see how well it performs!
7 – Instagress
The Instagress tool allows you to automate your Instagram marketing. Whilst I recommend manually engaging with other Instagram users, it can be very time-consuming so by using a tool like Instagress, you can not only build your following but also engage with your target audience and potentially drive traffic back to your website.
For more information about this tool, check out their website here. Whilst this tool may be great, make sure not to go over the top and exceed Instagram’s limits.
